Spurs - Suns These two styles have got to be on opposite ends of the spectrum, so this should be fun... I've been hearing alot of "nobody in the league can beat the spurs 4 times in a week or so", but personally I think the Suns are primed for a championship run with Amare dominating down low.
Imagine if PHX meets Golden State in the Western Finals? Has there ever been a 200 point game??? Would either team try to slow it down? Hopefully we get to see. Either way, the Suns - Spurs and Warriors - Jazz/Rockets matchups are going to -*test*-('") the Run n Gun vs Grind it out philosophies in the new NBA. If the Warriors and Suns win, look for everybody and their mama to be runnin next year.
Am I the only one who comes here anymore?

When was the last time a true, run-and-gun team won the championship? Do you have to go all the way back to the 1988 Lakers? And I'm not sure they qualify.
Those types of teams don't win championships.

Spurs are the worst possible matchup for Phoenix. Kryptonite baby... Kryptonite.

I think the Suns will do to the Spurs what the Warriors did to Dallas. Run-and-gun is the way in the new NBA.
Suns in 6.

Good first half of basketball. Suns 53 - Spurs 51. We're on our way!

Damn. The Spurs stole Game One while a bloody but unbowed Steve Nash was forced to watch from the sideline. Tough kid, tough loss. Phoenix shall rise from the ashes and prevail, in six. Maybe seven.

Run & Gun wont' win a title... it just won't. Teams like Phoenix are only playing that way out of necessity.... because there aren't many good back-to-the basket big men in the NBA anymore.
I'm telling you... Spurs win this one.... maybe in 5 ... 6 tops

Well grind out wins the the first round, with a little help from tony parkers forehead. That was a great game to watch, but it was a lousy way to end, with Nash on the bench. The Spurs better hope they can step on the Suns throats beacause if the Spurs are gonna have no legs left by game 6 or 7.
You guys might be right about the grind it out style, but I hope you're wrong. Dont get me wrong, I love tough D, and hard nose basketball, but something about Manu and Tony parker flopping around like fish out of water just irritates me. The whole team works the refs all game long. I mean come on, just play ball. Watching the Suns play, I feel like thats how it supposed to be.
That said, Duncan was great, Horry hit a big time shot, and the slow it down spurs stole one. Hats off to them, but this series has a long way to go.

Nash's gash costs The Suns Entertaining game today. Nash did all he could to pull it out for The Suns, The Suns missed too many open shots and some costly layups at the end. Also 2nd chance shots for The Spurs hurt the Suns ability to turn this game into a chaotic run and gun game.

Spurs have got this. I could even see a sweep.
Fast break basketball is harder to play 90 games into the season.

In today's NBA? I'm willing to agree, but run and gun worked well for a certain team in L.A. in the 80's.

I wouldn't go that far but I do think this is the Spurs series. The Suns method of basketball can only work for so long and they can not beat the Spurs in a 7 game series. I had Spurs vs. Pistons final midway through the season and I'm sticking to it.

Sure you did, sure you did. Was this before or after you made love to Kobe and the Lakers?

Let's not forget those "Run & Gun" Lakers had one of the grea-*test*-('") post-up players of all-time. They were also a great half-court team.

Stoudamire is the factor. The Suns run and gun there's no question about that. However one of the deciding factors of this series will be Stoudamire vs Duncan. If Stoudamire wants he can give Duncan fits. He should forget about scoring and focus his energy on shutting down Duncan. If he achieves that this series could get interesting. A side note to this series is whatever happened to Marcus Banks? I mean he would be good to play defense on Parker and Ginobli. It would help alleviate all the pressure of playing d on Nash.
